Wet Plate Collodion Photography - Paul Taylor
August 15-18, 2008 Paul Taylor of the Renaissance Press guides participants through the arcane process of collodion emulsion on a glass negative plate. A turn of the century technique used to realize his noted series of “riverbank” images – hauntingly beautiful views of the woods lining the banks of the Connecticut – Paul invites participants to walk the river and see how these differing technical approaches influence a final composition: the patterns created by the interviewing of the branches, and the movement of the water. The viscous quality of the background created by the glass negative contributes to the challenge and rewards of this workshop.
