Encaustic Painting: A Contemporary Approach –Jen Bradley
June 14 , 2008 An introduction and demonstration of a more contemporary method of painting with encaustics; Traditional encaustic painting is a technique that originated in Egypt during the Roman era and requires many steps. In this class the approach to encaustic painting is simplified without sacrificing the elaborate textured surfaces and effects achieved using paint and wax together. We will experiment with techniques and application methods using Dorlans Wax mixed with pigment and heat applied directly to the surface of the painting. An emphasis will be on integrating these methods into the process and creation of abstract painting. faculty
