Days generally begin at 9:30 a.m. with a demonstration in the use of materials and technique. Visual arts participants go on site to paint for the balance of the day, or paint still life compositions in a studio setting. Classes and workshops take place in the GRAI studios at 33 Bridge Street in Bellows Falls or other area locations. course schedulesLunch break is generally from 12:30 to 1:30. There are choices of restaurants in the Bellows Falls / Walpole area. The day usually ends between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., but our facilities stay open for those who would like to paint or print into the evening hours. Materials for classes are the responsibility of the participants unless otherwise noted in the class description. A list of recommended materials will be provided upon receipt of your registration. application formsClick here for our application form. BRING A FRIEND and receive a 10% discount on tuition. We must know in advance who you are recommending so you can be properly credited. Deposits, Cancellations & Refunds- Submit 50% tuition cost with application to reserve a place. - Balance of tuition is due 30 days before program begins. - If notice of cancellation is received over 30 days in advance of program, deposit will be refunded, minus a $50 administration fee. - If notice of cancellation is under 30 days, deposit is non-refundable. - If Great River Arts cancels a program, your deposit will be refunded in full. accomodationsHousing is not provided by the Institute. directionsDIRECTIONS TO GREAT RIVER ARTS INSTITUTE, BELLOWS FALLS, VT DRIVING FROM THE SOUTH FROM THE NORTH I-91 (in Vermont), Exit 6; turn right at the end of ramp onto Rte. 5 South; to the village of Bellows Falls (3.3 mi). At fork, bear left onto Rockingham Street (following the river) and into the Square (.4 mi.); turn left onto Bridge Street. Proceed as above. FROM THE EAST From New Hampshire take Route 12; following the signs that direct you to Bellows Falls, VT. There is a light at Vilas Bridge; cross over the river to Bellows Falls. 33 Bridge Street is at the top of the slope on the left. If coming from the south the bridge is about 4 mi. north of Walpole. If coming from the north the Vilas Bridge is the second bridge at Bellows Falls. OTHER TRANSPORTATION FLYING The two closest airports are Manchester, NH and Bradley International in Windsor Locks CT, just north of Hartford. Car rentals are available at both airports. From Hartford, CT, it is a two hour drive to Bellows Falls, VT up I-91North to VT Exit 5; see driving from south, above. From Manchester, NH, take Route 101 West to Keene, NH; at Keene take Route 12 West; see driving from east, above. Logan Airport in Boston, MA is the other option. From Boston, MA, take Route 2 West to Greenfield, MA and pick up I-91 North to VT Exit 5; see driving from south, above. Limousine (van) service is also available from these airports.
